Ruby is a Mineral used to make Crystal Weapons, Armor and Ammo. It can be obtained from the Ruby Clusters in Deep Forest Caves in Crystal mini-biomes. Each cluster drops several Rubies, when mined.
Ruby can also be found during Crystal Incursions.
