Money Farms
This page aims to expand on common ways to earn large sums of money, both automatable and not.
- Note : All prices are assuming sold to the Pawnbroker unless stated otherwise, such as Wheat.
Non-automatable[edit]
Ways to farm money that can't be done automatically with the use of settlers or traps. This section will exclude basic stuff such as killing Bosses and enemies.
Dungeon Bombing/Mining[edit]
Dungeon Walls sell for a price of 10 each. Dungeon Furniture prices varies from 5-100
each. This method is nonrenewable, meaning players will need to find new dungeons after clearing out one.
Recommended progression | Anytime is possible, but sustainable after Pirate Captain |
Returns | Extremely High |
Speed | Extremely Quick |
Set up required | None |
Bombs are suggested to speed up the collection of walls and furniture. Iron Bombs and Dynamite Sticks can cost anywhere from 40-80 and 100-160
each respectively from the Pirate Captain (cheaper the happier he is).
Without using much effort at optimizing placement (just throwing bombs next to the wall without mining), an Iron Bomb can be expected to give a return of about 200 or more each (averaging 250-300 if used sparingly). A Dynamite Stick can easily show returns of over 500
each (averaging around 700-800 each if used sparingly).
Automatable[edit]
This section shows ways players can make use of traps or settlers to farm money. Those that uses settlers will run forever no matter where the player is, while the ones with traps tend to need a player to afk in the right spot.
Tree Farms[edit]
Tree farms are easy and extremely cheap to set up, and furthermore players can automate the expansion of tree farms too.
Recommended progression | Anytime |
Returns | Medium |
Speed | Slow |
Set up required | Minimal |
Advantage | Easy set up, automatable expansion |
Disadvantage | Slow to grow, uses a lot of space |
Logs are one material a player will need no matter what their progression level is, as Logs are required for many crafting recipes as well as fuel for smelting. A piece of Log sells for 2, and non fruit trees also drop extra saplings that can be used to expand your farm or sold for 5
.
To set up an automatically expanding farm, all a player needs is to disable replant chopped trees and pick a sapling to plant.
If the set up is correct, settlers will plant extra saplings in the empty spaces, and might change the placement of existing Saplings or Trees.
Trees ranking : Fruit Tree (without chopping at all) >> Cacti >= Normal Logs > Fruit Trees (chopping them down before they fruit)
Crop Farms[edit]
There are many Crops in the game. The best crop to farm is Wheat as it can be sold for an extremely high price of 9 to the Farmer, and giving an Earning per Yield range of 9-36
. Crops also uses less space relatively to tree farms.
Recommended progression | Anytime, especially after setting up tree farms |
Returns | Medium - High |
Speed | Medium - Fast |
Set up required | Relatively Expensive |
Advantage | No wasted space, high returns |
Disadvantage | Farmlands require a lot of Logs |
With Fertilizer, the speed of crops growth is doubled. As Honey Bees also fertilize crops, Apiarries should be placed nearby crops to help to help not only increase crops growth speed, but also produce extra income with honey.
Selling wheat to farmers at max price can yield as much as 15x more money than tree farms, with some amount of fertilizer, for the same amount of space.
Mob Farms[edit]
With the addition of the Banner of War, Mob Farms has become the most lucrative way to farm money in the game. Not only does it take very little set up, its returns are extremely fast too.
Recommended progression | Anytime after Fallen Wizard, but inside Incursions might be more lucrative |
Returns | Extremely High |
Speed | Extremely Fast |
Set up required | Extremely Low |
Advantage | Easy way to get mob drops, and if farmed in incursions, can easily collect Gateway Tablets which also sells for very high |
Disadvantage | The best weapon for it is the Orb of Slimes which is locked behind clearing the Slime Cave Incursion first. Not fully AFK, which means you can't really do other stuff while the farm is ongoing. |
Recommended Gear | Orb of Slimes, Ruby Crystal Armor, Toolbox, and other damage trinkets or banners (such as Hysteria Tablet, Frozen Wave, Banner of Summon Speed, Banner of Damage, etc). |
Building a Mob Farm and Returns[edit]
The requirements to build a mob farm is as little as 9 building blocks, a suitable method of killing mobs, and the Banner of War.
Multiple Banner of War will stack with each other. However, with multiple flags, the spawn rate will hit the mob cap before the waves of mobs are cleared.
Do not use the Stink Flask as enemies spawned from the stink flask does not aggro towards the Banner of War and will instead wait around until the player enters their sight. This is bad as it will clog up the mob cap.
The best building block I found is the any bookshelves. As bookshelves are not full blocks, enemies will have to travel further before they can damage it, giving me more time to knockback and damage them.
Remember to place the Banner of Wars last, as once you do the farm starts running.
The blocks on the outside are not needed. It was a failsafe in case any bookshelves does break to prevent skeleton archers from having a direct line of sight to the Banner of Wars.
The mob farm has ran for about 8 minutes at this point.
My mob farm is placed in a Tier 3 Forest Deep Cave Extraction Incursion with +45% loot and the Alchemical Interference Modifier.
After exactly 10 minutes since placing the first Banner of War to teleporting out, I have sold all the bones for this much.
It is important to note that this is only what I get from selling the Bones. In an incursion, you also collect Gateway Tablets that sell for 500 coins each. If I sold all my gateway as well, I should be close to 80000 coins in just 10 minutes. Crafting and selling Bone Arrows will give an additional 50% more than selling the bones themselves, bringing the potential returns to 100K in 10 minutes.
The farm could be further improved if I increased my damage (my Orb of Slime wasn't T5), and pick a higher tier incursion for an even higher +loot%.
If you are planning to make a mob farm in an incursion, don't forget to pick an Extraction and also craft another Fallen Altar.
