Guide:Getting Started/Your First Cave

When you head down the ladder to the caves place down a  Torch which will allow you to survey your immediate surroundings as we are not alone down here in the caves.

Exploring caves

Now that we are down here in the caves you want to start walking around placing  Torch as you go as it will help you to see your surroundings.

As you walk around you can mine the surrounding  Rock to make paths, clear space or just to collect the  Stone that drops when they are broken down.

It's worth holding onto the  Stone to bring home with you as you can use them to craft a Forgeat the  Workstation back on the surface or store them in an  Storagebox for later as they can also be used to craft Stone Wall but we will cover that after our first trip here in the caves

Ore Veins

every now and then you will come across some rocks that look like:
 
 or 

make sure you mine these as the orange one is  Copper Ore and the light brown one is  Iron Ore and they are both valuble and used in the  Forge once we have built one. we will go into more detail about the ores and their uses when we are back on the surface

Cave Crates

Every now and then you will come across boxes on the floor of the Caves that look like this:

you should bash these with one of your tools such as your  Wood Pickaxe, Wood Sword or  Wood Axe
 as they can drop various items like:
 Coins, Health Potion or  Recall Scroll

 Recall Scroll are important as using one allows you to instantly teleport back to the surface no matter where you are

Treasure Rooms

Every now and then you may come across a walled room that looks like this:

They have a chest inside containing loot and sometimes a monster also resides in there.

if you plan on going in there take note that there is a  Stone Pressure Plate that is connected to a trap via  wire but wire is something we will talk about later, in this instance the trap is a  Stone Arrow Trap.

Walk into the doorway slowly and break the pressure plate with your pickaxe. After that it is safe to enter
Loot of note inside the chest was:

•  Noble Horseshoe
•  Recall Scroll
•  Iron Bar
•  Attack Speed Potion

the Noble Horseshoe is a trinket that gives us a chance to do more damage.
the Recall Scroll returns us to the surface when used
the Iron Bar is used in the creation of better equipment and also an  Iron Anvil
the Attack Speed Potion increases the rate we attack for a little while


We will go into more detail on [Potions] later and the Iron Anvil when we get back on the surface

Forest Cave Inhabitants

Hostile Creatures

Down in the Forest Caves there are a few threats we need to be on the look out for which i will list below:

 Zombie Zombie Archer Crawling Zombie  Goblin Vampire Cave Mole Giant Cave Spider   Suspiciously Tall Goblin  Grizzly Bear 
Each of them have their own behaviour's and you will figure them out as you interact with them. you can click their names here to learn more about them if you wish to do so. or you can learn about them as you discover them when exploring. my advise if you see the  Grizzly Bear would be to not engage as they aren't hostile while sleeping unless you hit them and wake them up 

Passive creatures

these creatures will not harm you and will in fact avoid you but if you can catch them you will reap the rewards

NPC Settlers

You may even see some humans walking around killing Monsters, you can Recruit them but we will go into detail on that later. For now you can leave them be.

Forest Cave Environmental Hazards

Lava

From time to time you may find pools of Lava that look like this:

It will hurt both The Player and Monsters on contact so try to avoid this.

Vampire Crypt

You may find a structure looking something like this with tombs and  Vampire inside:

With the gear we have currently I wouldn't advise taking down this wall but you can come back for revenge later

The Goal Of Our First Adventure

The overall goal of this first adventure is to grab as much  Copper Ore and  Iron Ore as we can and bringing it safely to the surface for use in making better equipment and progressing towards defeating the elders Quest to defeat Evils Protector.

Boss Summon Item

In order to fight Evils Protector we need to find the item to summon him. in this case it is a  Mysterious Portal which can be dropped by enemies down here in the forest caves.

Returning To the Surface

Once you are satisfied with how much loot you have collected or feel it would be unsafe to continue you can either head back to the  Cave Ladder or if you have one you can use a  Recall Scroll. once you are up there we can start to Upgrade Your Gear
