The Settlement Interface is displayed when the player uses the Open settlement keyboard Control (C by default). It is used to manage your Settlement and organize your Settlers.

Settings[edit]

The Settings panel prominently displays the current settlement's name at the top. Additionally, the owner's name is shown in the bottom left corner of the settings panel, providing clear identification of the current settlement proprietor. This panel also allows the player to :

  • Change the name of the settlement
  • Toggle the settlement status between "Public" and "Private"
  • Expand the settlement size (see also Settlements for details)
  • Unclaim the settlement, which allows another player to claim it
  • Disband the settlement, which will remove settlers, their equipment, and reset settlements settings permanently.

Settlers[edit]

To keep track of your settlers in a settlement, you can use the Settlers panel. This will show all your settlers and their happiness level. Hovering over a settler in the menu will indicate their location on your screen. Clicking on their face in the menu will select that settler. You can Shift-click to select multiple settlers at once.

From the Settlers panel, the player can also :

  • Rename a settler
  • Assign a settler to a specific bed
  • Lock a bed from being used by any settlers
  • Move a settler to another settlement (except the Elder)
  • Banish a settler from the settlement (except the Elder)

Command[edit]

To more directly control settlers, you can use the Command panel. You can use this to make settlers follow you, or stay in a specific location.

Use the Command panel to:

  • Make selected settlers follow you in your Adventure Party
  • Guard a specific location by right-clicking
  • Clear orders, to let the settlers go back to their work

Equipment[edit]

Settlers can equip and use armor and weapons. If allowed, they will automatically choose what to use if they have access to a storage with Weapons and Armors.

Use the Equipment panel to:

  • See the equipped weapons, armors, and cosmetics of your settlers.
  • Allow or prevent settlers to automatically equip themselves
  • Filter allowed equipments that settlers can automatically equip
  • Copy and paste filters to different settlers, to replicate different loadouts
  • Set default settings for all new settlers

Diets[edit]

(See also : Diets)

To avoid Hunger, you and all of your settlers need to eat food regularly. There are three main classes of food set by Diets for each settler:

  1. Simple Food
  2. Fine Food
  3. Gourmet Food

A Diet can be set which may include any number of items within each food type.

Use the Diets button to set:

  • The default Diet for New settlers joining the Settlement.
  • An individual Diet for each current Settler.

Restrict[edit]

If you want to keep your settlers in specific areas, you can Restrict your settlers to specific area. Settlers will only do work and interact with things that are inside their restriction zone. You can use the Restrict panel to assign an area to all, to new, or to specific settlers.

In the Restrict panel, you can also manage areas. From there, you can create, edit, rename, or delete areas.

Work Priorities[edit]

Settlers will do tasks automatically within the boundaries of a settlement. You can use the Work Priorities panel to arrange which tasks a settler will prioritize first, or disable certain tasks. You can also copy and paste priorities between settlers.

There are 8 levels of priority :

  • Top
  • Higher
  • High
  • Normal
  • Low
  • Lower
  • Last
  • Disabled

There are 8 categories of work :

Some works are restricted to particular settlers. For instance, only the Angler can do Fishing. See Settlers for more details.

Assign Work[edit]

Settlers will rely on work zones to do some tasks, namely Forestry, Fertilize, and Husbandry. You can use the Assign Work panel to set and configure these work zones. You can also use this panel to define Containers and Crafting Stations settlers can use, although it would be more practical to configure them individually from their own interface, as it allows to filter items or to enable recipes.

A Forestry zone allows the player to allow cutting trees in the area, and either planting back a sapling of the same tree, or a specific sapling chosen from a drop down menu.

In a Fertilize zone, settlers will use Fertilizer on crops to speed up their growth.

With a Husbandry zone, the player can set how many animals are allowed, with a ratio of male/female. Animals exceeding that limit are slaughtered and their drops collected. For more information on breeding, see Animals.
