Evil's Protector is the first boss that the Elder wants you to defeat. It can be summoned at night on the surface with a Mysterious Portal, which can can get from normal mobs or as loot from chests within Forest Caves.
It must be defeated before morning (630 AM ingame) or it will leave and the encounter will fail.
Fight[edit]
Upon using the Mysterious Portal, the boss will fly in and immediately land on the ground. This landing, and all subsequent landings, will deal damage to anything nearby.
While in the ground phase, it will attack with a set of three fireballs every few seconds. It will also create two portals in random locations, which will continuously spawn Portal Minions that will run up to and attack you. If you destroy the portals, they will respawn after some time.
Once you bring it down to 75% health, it will fly into the air and begin the bombing phase. During this phase, the boss is invisible but will drop bombs on players. These bombs drops are telegraphed, and have a small AoE. After dropping bombs for awhile, it's shadow will appear, indicating where it will land to begin the next ground phase. It will add a new attack, a small homing missle that eventually disappears if it does not hit anything.
After 50% health and another bomb dropping phase, it will replace the set of three fireballs with a roughly 180 degree spray of fireballs. It will not summon portals, but will still have the homing missle.
After 25% health and another, more frequent bomb dropping phase, it will repeat the previous phase, but will summon portals again.

Trivia[edit]
This boss can be fought early on with the help of villagers from your settlement if you fight it in your village's defend zone.
Evils Protector will despawn at dawn, so be careful to summon this boss early in the night to give yourself sufficient time to defeat it.
The Evils protector used to have 2 (smaller) eyes before the graphics update.
