The Mycelium Greatbow uses a charged attack. When fully charged, an effect will be displayed around the player, indicating a full charge has been achieved.
If the Mycelium Greatbow is not fully charged, it will have reduced damage, knockback, attack range, and projectile velocity.

When combined with the Soldier's Cap armor set, a high tier Mycelium Greatbow becomes one of the strongest anti-raid weapons in the game, capable of one-shotting an entire army of raiders with just one fully charged arrow.
