With this trinket, you can always use half of the available slots rounded up for the best effect.
However, the trinket only becomes useful with 3 or more slots.
With 9-12 slots, it remains most effective with 5 usable slots, and with 13 or more slots, it is better to fill all slots.
Example:
- 4 Slots -> use 2 Slots(4/2 = 2)
- 9 Slots -> use 5 Slots(9/2 = 4,5)
- 11 Slots -> still use 5 Slots(11/2 = 5,5)
