Introduced with the Rust & Romance Update (Version 1.3), NPCs can have various personality traits.

Type Personality Description Notes
Starred Biggest Fan [Name] is absolutely mesmerised by your big muscles and heroic stance! They will literally pay to watch you slay foes if you bring them along on your adventures. Higher quality of life means more money At level 5: Regular enemies: 10% chance for 30-90 coins
Bosses: Guaranteed 300-900 coins
Starred Fast Worker Having plenty of experience from their previous life, [Name] can do tasks faster than others. They will work faster with each higher quality of life level they are at
Each quality of life at Mediocre or above: +20% work speed
Starred Glyph Maniac [Name] once ate a weird crystal, which has resulted in them summoning magic glyphs then they sneeze. They will occasionally spawn a random glyph then in combat or in an adventure party. Frequency starts at 40 seconds and gets 25% faster for each quality of life level
Starred Inspiring [Name] is simply just the best! They will give other settlers they talk to a happiness boost for some time. Bonus starts at +10 happiness and increases with +50% for each quality of life level
Starred Jogger [Name] has stuff to do and people that need them. They will run faster with each higher quality of life level they are at
Each quality of life at Mediocre or above: +15% movement speed
Starred Magician [Name] once made their pet penguin levitate by waving a stick. Since then they have excelled in the power of magic. They will get bonuses based on their quality of life level
At Mediocre quality of life: +1 projectile bounces
At Decent quality of life: +2 projectile bounces
At Good or better quality of life: +3 projectile bounces Turns invisible and immune to damaeg for a short duration when hit
Each quality of life at Impressive or above: +10% damage
Starred Persistent [Name] gets knocked down, but they get up again! They will fully heal if they would die an amount of times based on their quality of life level. Resets every hour
Starred Potion Seller [Name] always brews an extra potion for people in need. They will have one random potion available to sell for each quality of life level above Low. Their selection will change every day
Starred Ranger [Name] feels the wind, breathes, and fires. Because a true marksman, only needs one arrow. They will get bonuses based on their quality of life level
At Mediocre quality of life: +50% projectile velocity
At Decent quality of life: +50% projectile velocity +1 projectile bounces
At Good or better quality of life: +50% projectile velocity +1 projectile bounces +1 projectile pierces
Each quality of life at Impressive or above: +10% crit chance
Starred Summoner [Name] was never any good at making friends. So they summoned their own! Which has resulted in them being an experienced summoner. They will get bonuses based on their quality of life level
At Mediocre quality of life: +1 max summons
At Decent quality of life: +2 max summons +10% summons speed
At Good or better quality of life: +3 max summons +30% summons speed
Each quality of life at Impressive or above: +10% movement speed
Starred Voyager [Name] has always been a traveller by heart and through their travels they have learned how to navigate the world more efficiently than anyone else. They will complete missions 15% faster with each higher quality of life level they are at Angler, Explorer, Miner, and Trader only?
Starred Warrior [Name] has been crawling ever since they were a kid. As they grew older, fists were replaced with swords and they now excel at melee combat. They will get bonuses based on their quality of life level
At Mediocre quality of life: 75% damage taken
At Decent quality of life: 75% damage taken +10% melee attack speed
At Good or better quality of life: 75% damage taken +10% melee attack speed +25% movement speed
Each quality of life at Impressive or above: +5% max health
Housing Art Connoisseur [Name] doesn't just see the art, they FEEL it. They will get a happiness boost when they have a lot of different paintings in their room
Housing Beach Lover Living near the water gives [Name] tranquility. They will get a happiness bonus then their room is located near water
Housing Ecologist [Name] loves the feeling of grass between their toes. They get a happiness bonus when their room is filled with plants and the floor is completely organic +5 for one plant; +10 +1 per plant for lots of plants; +20 for a completely organic floor
Housing Maker [Name] is always tinkering with something. They have a happiness bonus when they have many different crafting stations in their room
Housing [Material] Enthusiast [Name] loves the smell of fresh [Material] in the morning. They get a happiness bonus when they have a lot of [Material] furniture in their room Possible materials include Birch, Maple, Oak, Palm, and Spruce
+10 for one piece, +18 for two; +24 for three; +28 for four; +30 for 5 or more
Housing [Material] Architect [Name] always dreamt of building a house made entirely of [Material]. They get a happiness bonus when their room has some [Material] walls and an even bigger bonus if it only has [Material] walls Possible materials include Bamboo, Brick, Deep Stone, Palm, Pine, and Stone
Housing Roomie [Name] doesn't mind living with another person. In fact, they prefer it and will get a happiness bonus when they have one other settler living in the same room as them +30 when living with exactly one roommate
Happiness Adventurer [Name] used to be an adventurer like you, but then they took an arrow to the knee. Luckily they still get happiness from joining your adventure party, outside the settlement
Happiness Audiophile [Name] needs to bust a move every now and then. They would like to have a music player and vinyls in their room
Happiness Bloodthirsty [Name] wasn't loved enough as a child. They enjoy hurting others and will get a happiness boost when they do damages
Happiness Expeditioner [Name] used to run away from home a lot as a kid. They will get a happiness boost for a while after being sent on a mission Angler, Explorer, Miner, and Trader only?
Happiness Fashionista [Name] just has a bit more style than everyone else. They would like to have a full set of cosmetic armor equipped different from their normal armor set
Happiness Favorite Dish [Name] enjoys eating [Food] and will never get tired of eating it. They get an extra happiness bonus then they eat it as well various foods are possible
Happiness Flower Collector [Name] loves flowers. She even eats them sometimes, hehe. They will get a happiness boost when given a flower as a gift +20 temporarily. Can be set to automatically collect them from storage
Happiness Gardener [Name] has been tending the farm their whole life, and they ain't about to stop now! They enjoy doing farming tasks and will get a happiness boost every time they complete one
Happiness Gem Collector [Name] is fascinated by shiny minerals, not rocks, minerals. They will get a happiness boost when given a gem as a gift +20 temporarily. Can be set to automatically collect them from storage
Happiness Hired Hand [Name] thinks you're great and all, but all, but all this unpaid labour seems illegal. They will get a happiness boost when given coins as a gift
Happiness Indoorsy [Name] once got struck by lightning and lived! But since then they prefer working indoors and will get a happiness boost for doing indoor jobs
Happiness Lumberjack [Name] likes to chop trees and shew bubblegum. But they're all out of gum. They enjoy doing forestry tasks and will get a happiness boost every time they complete one
Happiness Orderly [Name] likes to keep things neat and organized. They will get a happiness boost when their settlement has all the items in the correct storage chests +30
Happiness Pacifist [Name] just goes with the flow, man, make love, not war. They are happier when they haven't fought in a while, but they become very upset if they have to fight
Happiness Tourist [Name] likes to brag about travelling all the time. They will get a happiness bonus while they are in you adventure party and you're visiting a different settlement or NPC village
Happiness Vengeful [Name] secretly thinks it's sorta cool having an edgy and vengeful backstory. They will get a happiness boost for a while after the settlement is raided
Happiness Weather-Bound [Name] is one of those people who seem to think that their mood changes with the weather. They will get a happiness boost when the weather is sunny, but will lose it when it is raining or snowing +20
Negative Clumsy [Name] is a bit clumsy, but that's okay. They even get a happiness bonus because of it. They will damage furniture in their room over time, eventually ending up getting a negative thought for each broken piece +40; -10 if broken furniture in room
Negative Stressed Out [Name] used to be a lazy teenager which has resulted in them getting easily overworked. Every 5 days they will take the day off to relax
Unrecruitable Exotic Merchant [Name] sells exclusive goods! You never know what they might bring. As the saying goes... [Name] has wares, if you have coin! Exotic Merchant only
